Updating Your Bluechip Registration

Enter a new registration key that reflects the number of practitioners or tenants in your practice.

Before you begin

Ensure you have your MedicalDirector customer number, serial number, and practice name as recorded with MedicalDirector. If you are unsure of these, consult your practice manager or contact MedicalDirector Customer Service for assistance.

Ensure that Bluechip is not running on any other computer.

About this task

The Bluechip registration key is updated via BC Secure. You must have permission to access this utility. If you do not have permissions, consult your practice manager or contact MedicalDirector Customer Service for assistance.

Procedure

  1. Within Bluechip select BC Tools > Utilities > BC Secure.
  2. You will be prompted that Bluechip must be closed to proceed. Click Yes.
  3. In the Login screen, enter your username and password. Click OK.
  4. In the BC Secure window, ensure you are viewing the Practice settings. Click Practice if you are viewing something else.
  5. Click Update registration.
  6. In the Update Bluechip Registration window, remove the last alphanumeric character from the HCN customer number, and then immediately add it again so that a red asterisk * appears at the end of the box. Do the same to the Serial no and Practice name.
  7. When the red * appears, enter the new registration key in the Registration Key field.
  8. Click Verify.
  9. (Optional) If the new registration allows for fewer practitioners or tenants than are recorded in Bluechip, Bluechip prompts you to deactivate one or more user registrations.
    1. Click Yes.
    2. Select the practitioners or tenants.
    3. Click Deactivate > Apply.
  10. In the Update Bluechip Registration screen, click Apply > OK > OK.
