Install Bluechip

Install the latest version of Bluechip.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that automatic updates and Windows updates are disabled during the installation.
  • Ensure any antivirus applications are disabled during the installation.

Procedure

  1. On activating the installation, the Winzip Self Extractor message is displayed. Click Setup to proceed with the Bluechip installation.
  2. In the Welcome screen, click Next.
  3. Read the Bluechip Licence Agreement.
  4. If you agree with the Bluechip Licence Agreement, select I Accept the Terms of the Licence Agreement.
  5. Click Next.
  6. In the Select Documentation window, click the icon for the document you want to review.
    It is strongly recommended that you read and understand the documentation offered before continuing.
  7. Click Next.
  8. In the Choose Destination Location window, select a destination folder for Bluechip.
    The default location for Bluechip and all its features is C:\Program Files\Health Communication Network\Bluechip. You can select a different installation directory if necessary.
  9. Click Next.
  10. In the Setup Type window, select the type of Bluechip installation you want.
  11. Click Next.
  12. If you have an existing HCN database, it is automatically selected in the Database Server Login window. Its login ID and password are also retrieved. If you want to select a different server, click Browse, browse to the server's location and select it.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Select the location of your ManageEzy database location. The default location is preselected. To select a different location, click Browse, browse to the location and select it.
    You should only see this step if:
    • You have an existing installation of Bluechip, and you are now trying to install a new instance.
    • You have an existing installation of Clinical and/or Pracsoft.
  15. Click Next.
  16. If you selected to install the WorkStation version, in the Server Folder Paths window, check the suggested installations paths for the BlueData and ManageEzy folders. If necessary, you can click Change and select a different path.
  17. If you selected Stand Alone or Server, in theChoose Destination Location window, check the suggested destination folder for ManageEzy folders. If necessary, you can click Change and select a different path.
  18. Click Next.
  19. Review your installation settings. If these are incorrect, go back now and make any necessary changes.
  20. When you’re ready to start the Bluechip installation, click Install.

Results

The installation starts and its progress is displayed.

You will be prompted when the installation is complete. Click Finish to exit the MedicalDirector Bluechip Installation Wizard.
