Updating Day Surgery

Update Day Surgery so you can complete your statutory reporting for the following year.

About this task

Updates for Day Surgery are state-specific. The convention is that the NSW Day Surgery folder is named DS. Folders and database file names for all other states include a suffix that identifies the state, for example, DSQ for Queensland.

Procedure

Back up your databases:
  1. Browse to the location of your Day Surgery installation, for example, C:\DS\.
  2. Create a new folder called Backup_YYYY_MM_DD where Y = Year, M = Month, D = Day.
  3. Copy the three existing Day Surgery database files, for example, DS Data.mde, DS Episodes.mde, and DS.mdb.
  4. Paste the files into the Backup folder.
  5. Download and apply the updates:
    1. Download the update for your state from https://www.medicaldirector.com/support/product-updates/bluechip/bluechip-day-surgery-updates.
    2. Save the update file to a suitable location on your computer.
    3. Extract the archive file to a suitable location such as Downloads.
    4. Browse to the extracted files and copy the three new Day Surgery database files, for example, DS Data.mde, DS Episodes.mde, and DS.mdb.
    5. Browse to the location of your Day Surgery Installation, for example, C:\DS\, and paste the new files.
    6. If prompted, select Yes to overwrite existing files.
    7. Right-click each file and select Properties.
    8. In the Properties window, ensure that Read-only is not set.
    9. Read the update instructions and complete the update steps.
  6. In the Day Surgery folder, double-click the DS file for your state.
  7. If prompted to create a new episode, click No.
  8. Within Access, in the Add-Ins, select Advanced > Relink Databases > Episodes.
  9. When prompted, navigate to the DS folder you created earlier, and then click Open. A message should be displayed that the link was made successfully.
  10. To check that the linking was successful, select Advanced > Relink Databases > Show Links.

Results

You can now complete your statutory reporting for the following year.
