Record replies to SMS Reminder Messages

Manually record a patient's reply to an SMS reminder message about an appointment.

Before you begin

Ensure you have access to the Outlook-style Appointment Book, set in Practice Explorer Preferences.

About this task

You can manually record the reply status of SMS messages about appointments only. The reply status of SMS messages about recalls can't be manually recorded.

You might choose to record a reply manually if:

  • The message failed to send, for example, if the patient has opted out of SMS messaging or the practice has run out of SMS credits.
  • The patient has not replied.
  • The patient replied in an uncertain or ambiguous way.
  • The patient replied to an SMS reminder by phoning the practice.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the patient's appointment in the Appointment Book.
  2. Select SMS Log by Appointment.
  3. In the View Appointment SMS Log window, click the appropriate button to record the patient's reply.
    • Delete Appointment: Deletes the appointment from the Appointment Book. Click OK.
    • Decline Appointment: Records that the patient can't attend the appointment. Enter the reason why the patient can't attend. Click OK. The appointment will remain in the Appointment Book.
    • Confirm Appointment: Records that the patient plans to attend the appointment.

Results

Bluechip records the patient's reply in the message's reply status. If the appointment was deleted, it is removed from the Appointment Book.
