Patient Details Tab

Manage the patient's basic and demographic details.

Use the Patient Details tab of the Patient Explorer to manage a patient's demographic information and view basic details about the patient's accounts, referral, and health fund. The Patient Explorer is displayed when you open a patient's record.

Single Name Set this option if the patient is known by a single name (instead of a first name and surname). The Surname field changes to Name. Enter the patient's name in the Name field.
Status Makes patient record as Active or Inactive. Inactive patients do not appear in the list of those available, unless you specify otherwise.
Deceased / Deceased Date Marks the patient record as deceased.
Record Number Displays the patient record number, for example, in reference to a hardcopy record you have on file. To change the file number, click the Ellipsis Ellipsis button.
  • This button is available if the Required Manual option is set in the Patient Details File Number Setup and record numbers are activated. See File Numbers for more information.
  • If record numbers are automatically generated, a record number appears for each new patient based on the criteria requested at setup time, for example, 1234, EC1234, or 06031234. Leading zeros are not accepted, for example, 0001. Ensure that the record number is as small as possible, especially if interfacing with Bluechip's Day Surgery Module, which has an eight-digit alpha/numeric limit in accordance with Government standards.
  • If record numbers are manually assigned, this field is empty.
Residential/Postal Address If a patient's record includes only a residential address, Bluechip uses it as the patient's primary mailing address. However, if there is a postal address, Bluechip uses it as the primary mailing address.

Click Residential to enter the patient's residential address. Click Preferred Postal Address if the patient has a postal and residential address but prefers to receive correspondence at their residential address.

Click Postal to enter the patient's postal address.

To enter the suburb, click the Ellipsis button Ellipsis, then select a suburb from the list. If the suburb you are searching for is in a state from which you do not usually draw patients, set Show suburbs from all States.

If you are certain that a particular suburb does not exist in the database, you can add it.

Do Not Send SMS check box Set this option if you do not want Bluechip to send reminder messages to this patient via SMS.

The label of this button varies, depending on whether you selected the Medicare or Veteran option for recording a patient's Medicare or DVA Card number.

Click this button to verify the patient's details with Medicare Online before invoicing. A successful Online Patient Verification (OPV) check does not guarantee payment from the Medicare. Other criteria for a claim must also be met in order for it to be paid.

This information is only displayed if Use Medicare is set in General Practice Options.

Patient's Name is Different on the DVA card Set this option if the patient's name on their DVA card is different to the name recorded in their patient record in Bluechip.
